BackTrack at the NAPBS Conference
Posted in News Articles on 05/01/2009
The annual National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS®) conference was held in St. Louis, MO April 19th through 22nd. Several of our staff members attended and brought back quite a bit of information to help our clients.
The big news of the conference was the unveiling of the CRA Accreditation program. This program is designed to hold credit reporting agencies that perform employment background checks, such as BackTrack, to higher standards in several important areas – data protection, legal / compliance, client education, data standards, verification standards, and other miscellaneous business practices. In order to become accredited, a company must show competency in ALL 58 of the standards. BackTrack wholeheartedly supports this program and will undergo the process to become accredited. Bob Gandee, President of BackTrack states, “We see accreditation as the most important action we can take for the long term survival of our industry, and Backtrack is committed to the accreditation program.”
We brought back a lot of information and tips on International background screening. There were several seminars designed to cover the best practices and other areas to help your company be compliant with international rules and regulations. We attended seminars on the Federal contractor E-Verify rule to update our knowledge in this area, and we also met with several vendors to look at some new products to offer to our clients. Stay tuned for more details.
