Is Your Company Ready for E-Verify?

Posted in Frequently Asked Questions on 05/01/2009

E-Verify is an internet based system operated by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in partnership with the Social Security Administration (SSA) that allows participating employers to electronically verify the employment eligibility of their newly hired employees.  Executive Order 12989, as amended by former President George W. Bush, requires certain Federal contractors and subcontractors to use the E-Verify system.  Federal contractors whose contracts include the Federal Acquisition Requisition (FAR) E-Verify clause 73 FR 67704 will need to electronically verify the employment eligibility of their employees including all persons hired during a contract term and to confirm the employment eligibility of Federal contractors’ current employees who perform contract services for the Federal government within the United States.

BackTrack can help your company get ready for this program.  We offer Form I-9 verifications to our clients that can be accessed right through our website.  The electronic Form I-9 will allow your company to verify the accuracy of Social Security Numbers, Immigration “A” numbers and I-94 arrival/departure numbers.  It will also assign a DHS-issued unique verification number, which should be attached to the employee’s original Form I-9.  The service is secure, quick, and easy to use.

The electronic Form I-9 uses error detection, which helps to eliminate errors and simplifies the document completion process.  It also allows your company to store and retrieve active and inactive I-9 Forms giving you the access you need when you need it.  This system will also send automated alerts 90, 60 and 30 days in advance of the expiration of your employees’ work authorization documents.

Interested in adding this to your services, contact BackTrack at 800-991-9694 for more information.
