Who is Doing Your Background Screening?

Posted in Frequently Asked Questions on 01/14/2011

Is your company looking for a background screening company? Or is your company reviewing your current screening vendor? Here are some important things to consider:

How long have they been in business?

With more companies doing background checks, the industry has grown by leaps and bounds. BackTrack has been in business since 1994, and our sole business is providing employment screening reports to our clients.

What certifications do they hold? Do they really belong to the trade organizations they state?

BackTrack has been an active member in good standing of the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS®) since its founding in 2003 and has employees who serve on the various committees.

BackTrack is accredited by NAPBS®, certification which is held by only 1% of screening companies. For more information about the accreditation program, click here.

What do their references say?

How do they handle customer service? Does the company offer a primary contact point for questions?

Our clients are the reason for our success as a company, and we believe that each and every one of them deserves to have superior customer service. Our phones are answered by a person who can refer your call to the correct person to answer your specific questions, and each BackTrack client is provided a Team Manager who acts as your main point of contact for questions. Are they knowledgeable about laws impacting background screening? Do they provide guidance or resources on laws?

We do recommend that our clients consult with their own legal counsel to discuss the specifics of your industry and your state, but we do offer links to relevant laws and compliance procedures.

BackTrack monitors legislation that could impact your background screening program and keeps our clients up-to-date on new laws and regulations. We receive updates through various sources including NAPBS® and our legal counsel at Seyfarth-Shaw. Updates are available through our online retrieval site and through the News section of our website.

Do they offer a variety of services? Is the program scalable to your needs?

BackTrack has a comprehensive menu of services to fill your company’s needs. Services can be ordered by packages, by individual services or by whatever your company needs. Click here to view our service offering.

How can you order and retrieve results?

Screening reports can be ordered and retrieved via fax, email, mail, through integration with your applicant tracking system (ATS) or through our proprietary online system. You choose the method that is most convenient for your needs; however, most of our clients prefer to fax their requests to our office and retrieve the results through our online system.
